It's SO good to be home. We were able to come home on Wednesday, after Eirik blessed us with two wet diapers! After 4 days with a catheter, and weighing him before and after every meal to make sure he wasn't getting dehydrated, he went in for his surgery Tuesday morning at 9am. The surgery took just an hour, and we were immediately down in recovery giving him his next meal- He's such a strong little guy - wouldn't even have known he had been under full anethesia for an hour, if you didn't see the IV and catheter connected to his body. After that, it was a full 24 hours of observation and several hours with an IV. Tuesday evening, he was doing so well, we were allowed to take the buggy and go for a little walk to the nearest grocery store, just to get out of the hospital for a while.
The surgeons were able to go in with a scope and remove the flap that was blocking the urethra. They were pretty confident they got it all, but Eirik has to take antibiotics until his next checkup in 2 months, just to prevent any infection he might be prone to... In 2 months, they will do a new ultrasound to check for reflux back up into the kidney. But in the meantime, we're busy changing LOTS of wet diapers.
Wednesday morning, the nurse came in and took out his catheter, and then it was just waiting after that... waiting for the wet diapers to start coming. By 3pm, we had 2! The surgeon came in on his rounds after that, and told us we were allowed to finally come home! :) YEA! YIPPIE! In the meantime, Arnt had packed everything up already, having already decided that we WERE going home today, we just were! After a quick stop up in Labor & Delivery to say good-bye, Arnt went out and brought the car around to the lobby entrance, and we took our first drive together, finally on our way home, after 11 days at the hospital.
Here at home we're busy finding our new routine, and getting settled in... Harley is sooo curious, and just gets so excited when Eirik cries, wants to get up in his face and lick it all better! Yesterday he had his first bath, and his first visit to Pappa's work, and his first restaurant visit (Mamma and Pappa just really needed a coffee and some dessert!)
I'm going to try and post more often now (I know I ALWAYS say that) but being at home and settled is a lot easier to find time to do it...
Hugs and kisses from Aimee, Arnt-Einar, Eirik and Harley

Way to go, Eirik!
So glad you are able to enjoy the comforts of home--I'm sure Harley missed you guys like crazy! The video is adorable of him checking out his new playmate.
Let me know when things have settled down a bit and we can come visit, and bring the rest of the clothes and bouncy seat for you...(he looks adorable in the little blue car outfit, by the way! I loved that one on both of my boys too. He'll be outgrowing it before you know it...)
Love,
Amy & Co.
So glad you guys are home now and can enjoy your time with the little guy!!! Marci (my mom) wanted me to tell you congratulations and that she is proud of you. Lots of hugs, Rebecca
