4 months old, on a road trip through Southwest Norway

We are on a vacation - ROAD TRIP :) - through southwestern Norway, Fjord Norway they call it - and as you can see by the pictures, it's the most visited part of Norway. Postcard Norway, I call it.

First, we drove 6 hours to a little island outside of Molde, called Midsund, where we visited Arnt's cousin and family. They have a little boy that was born a couple of weeks after Eirik. Then we started our drive through the well known mountains of Western Norway, where people from all over the world come to hike, or just sight-see!

Our first main attraction was Trollstigen, or the Troll's ladder. It was a road carved out of a mountainside back in 1930s, which weaves back and forth until you get to the top, where you drive through the mountain chain until you get to the otherside, where you drive down a similar winding road called Ørneveien, or the Eagle's Path, where we came to Geiranger, Norway's most visited tourist town.

We arrived in Briksdal, our final destination for day two of our vacation. After spending the night in a mountain lodge, we started our 45 minute walk up towards the Briksdal Glacier, an arm of the enormous Jostedal Glacier, with baby buggy and all! :) (no problem with those sturdy norwegian buggies with SHOCKS!)

After an amazing hike into delicious Norwegian nature at its best, we drove towards our evening's destination of Aurdal, where we spent the night in Aurdal's Fjord hotel. That's where we are now, using their internet to update our blog, before we head out towards Bergen, today's destination. Before we leave Aurdal, however, we have to do some extreme sports! ;) There's a lookout point with a little platform that juts out overlooking the fjord of Nærøy.

The dramatic nature has been put in the front seat here and the stepping out onto the platform gives an extraordinary panorama experience. Take in the mighty fjord landscape - which is also a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Nærøyfjorden - in almost thin air.

Then it's off to Bergen, where we'll visit an American friend, Rebecca, and take in the sights and sounds of Norway's second largest city.
